Emotion

What is emotion?

Emotion is the complex psychophysiological experience of an individual's state of mind as interacting with biochemical (internal) and environmental (external) influences. In humans, emotion fundamentally involves "physiological arousal, expressive behaviors and conscious experience ". Emotion is associated with mood, temperament, personality and disposition and motivation.

List of emotion

Anger ; feeling related to one's perception of having been offended / wronged and a tendency to undo that wrongdoing by retaliation.

Annoyance ; an unpleasant mental state that is characterized by such effects as irritation and distraction from one's conscious thinking.

Contempt ; intense feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless—it is similar to scorn.

Disgust ; an emotion that is typically associated with things that are regarded as unclean, inedible, infectious, or otherwise offensive

Irritation ; The act of irritating.

Anxiety ; A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties.

Embarrassment ; an emotional state experienced upon having a socially or professionally unacceptable act or condition witnessed by or revealed to others.

Fear ; an emotional response to a perceived threat.

Worry ; thoughts and images of a negative nature in which mental attempts are made to avoid anticipated potential threats.

Doubt ; status between belief and disbelief, involves uncertain or distrust or lack of sureness of an alleged fact, an action, a motive, or a decision

Envy ; as an emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another's (perceived) superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it."

Frustration ; common emotional response to opposition.

Guilt ; a cognitive or an emotional experience that occurs when a person realizes or believes—accurately or not—that he or she has violated a moral standard, and bears significant responsibility for that violation.

Shame ; variously, an affect, emotion, cognition, state or condition. The roots of the word shame are thought to derive from an older word meaning to cover; as such, covering oneself, literally or figuratively, is a natural expression of shame

Boredom ; an emotional state experienced during periods lacking activity or when individuals are uninterested in their surroundings.

Despair ; loss of hope .

Disappointment ; the feeling of dissatisfaction that follows the failure of expectations to manifest.

Hurt ; suffering

Sadness ; an emotion characterized by feelings of disadvantage, loss, helplessness, sorrow, and rage.

Stress ; mental, emotional, or physical strain or tension

Shock ; to strike with great surprise and emotional disturbance.

Tension ; mental or emotional strain; stress

Amusement ; state of experiencing humorous and usually entertaining events or situations, and is associated with enjoyment, happiness, laughter and pleasure.

Delight ; happiness and may refer to someone or something that brings such a state.

Happiness ; state of mind or feeling characterized by contentment, love, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy.

Pleasure ; broad class of mental states that humans experience as positive, enjoyable, or worth seeking.

Love ; the emotion of strong affection and personal attachment.

Courage ; the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainly,or intimidation.

Hope ; a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life.

Pride ; A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect.

Satisfaction ; fulfillment or gratification of a desire, need, or appetite.

Trust ; Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing.

Calm ; Nearly or completely motionless; undisturbed:

Relaxed ; Free from strain or tension.

Relieved ; free from pain, anxiety, or distress.

Surprised ; encounter suddenly or unexpectedly; take or catch unawares.
